Mission 10 Million

Nelson Mandela proved the incredibly transformative impact of sports in breaking social barriers and changing destinies of not just people but nations. It is an equally powerful tool in changing gender narratives and inequities. The FIFA 2019 Women’s World Cup hosted by France and watched by a billion viewers across the world, was a testimony on how far the game has come, in terms of quality and quantity. FIFA has identified Women’s Football as the segment on the verge of a massive explosion, and is amping up its investment, time and resources in this space, to fuel this boom. The number of participating teams has jumped from 24 to 32, as FIFA strides towards its goal of doubling the number of female players to 60 million by 2026.
With this as our inspiration, IWFA is committed to building a local ecosystem that fosters and propels this movement. Our goal is to enlist and engage 10 million stake holders into Indian Women’s Football by 2026. Our extensive outreach program will bring into the fold players, aspiring players, coaches, referees, schools, colleges, service providers, sports federations, international governing bodies, schools, colleges and of course supporters from all over the country.
With India being the potential backdrop for the next Under 17 World Cup, IWFA has a clear time line and agenda.
